34 what i learned

I learned how to be a technology expert! Just kidding...
Media taught me more about computers, filming videos, putting pictures onto the computer, etc. I learned many other things as well about just how much the media influences people.

33 final exam project

Puck Mommies - TV Show
Partners: Larissa, Erika and Tiffany
Why it will be a success? "Real life" drama involving two opposing hockey teams. The all-stars' mothers are very protective of their boys and want to see them win. Hockey is important to each of the families so the mothers don't take it as a light subject. They have money, don't work and push their children to the limits in order to win against the next best team.

32 tv ratings

1. Grey's Anatomy - its cute and there's always something new to the story line, Rookie Blue - exciting to watch, cute, always ends suspenseful, Pretty Little Liars - ends in suspense, never know whats going to happen, always a mystery.
2. Seven
3. At night before bed.
4. On the tv unless I miss an episode then I watch it on the computer.
5. Commercials. They're a waste of time, sometimes I feel like I'm watching more commercials than the actual tv show that I wanted to watch.
6. Not boring, relaxing, different genres depending on your mood.
7. Drama
8. I usually watch tv with my family or friends.
9. a). One
b). Two and a half men
c). People like to watch shows with competition whether it's sports, music, dancing, or surviving on an island, they have a favourite person that they root for and want to see who will win.
10. Many people enjoy watching crime/mystery shows or competition shows.
11. I'm surprised more people don't watch more fictional shows like drama, comedy, etc.

31 Mall Survey

1. Twice a month. Sometimes I don't go for a few months and sometimes I go every week. It depends on the time of year and if there are things I need.
2. Malls are alright. I don't find the people to be very polite. Most walk right in the middle of the mall and don't move for anyone. Malls also aren't very clean. Lastly, the workers. I hate when I walk into a store and 5 people come up to me and ask me if I need help finding a size. I can find my own size, if I have a question, I'll find you.
3. Masonville for sure! They have much better stores in my opinion (aritzia, lulu lemon, roots, MAC), I think The Bay and American Eagle are better their and they also have better shoes stores. I also like the big box stores near masonville (sportchek, winners, micheals). They have a marbleslab across the street and a movie theatre as well.
4. I went to West Edmonton Mall when I was 7ish and I didn't go there to shop. I went for the rides and waterpark. I thought it was alright but nothing really out of the ordinary. When walking through the actual mall it seemed pretty dead and a lot of stores were closing.
5. Stores that have my style.
6. Malls are a good thing because I can almost always find what I'm looking for and don't have to drive all across the city because there are many stores in one mall.
7.

30 Fast Food Survey

1. I eat fast food probably twice a month.
2. Subway, marble slab, dairy queen.
3. Its fast, love ice cream, and variety.
4. Unhealthy, makes me feel sick or guilty after eating it and the money adds up if you eat out rather then eating something at home.
5. I didn't eat much fast food as a child, when I lived in Vancouver my mom and I would go to the Key (a market) and get pavlova. I also remember when living in Winnipeg my dad and I would go to The Forks every Saturday morning and I always got Chinese food or the little cinnamon, sugar covered doughnuts. We'd be there for hours just shopping and looking around, it was our thing. Eventually we would get hungry and grab something to eat.
6. If I have kids, they won't be eating a lot of fast food. I eat healthy and I want my kids to do the same. If they eat fast food it will be something that I can't make (chinese, thai, etc) or a treat like icecream or cake from a store. They won't go to McDonalds, Wendy's, Subway, etc. A burger or a sandwich can easily be made at home and it will be much healthier and cheaper. I think going out anywhere to eat should be a privilege, not a common event. If it happens all the time then children will go out to eat on a regular basis and not see the importance of eating healthy.
7. Advertising doesn't play a big part in my choice of fast food. Most of the places I eat out at aren't advertised. If I see something on tv and it looks good then I meet be like "oh I want to try that" and get it sometime. I only try things that appeal to me, I won't see something that I don't normally like and then all of a sudden it looks really good because it's fast food.
8. I don't think fast food played a big role to me as a child. I was always taught to eat healthy and if given the option between fruit or fast food, I'd go for the fruit.
9. I always remember the Dairy Queen blizzard commercials because they look so good!

29 things that are tough to sell to teens

Product: Walkman
Group: Larissa, Erika and Tiffany
Approach: We decided the walkman should now have cool features to make it different from the average ipod. You can listen to music and run at the same time; but if you get hot, there's always your walkman fan to cool you off. You can also use it as a drink holder or a frisbee.

28 mark z

The man is brilliant! I don't know his real personality but the movie makes him seem like a bit of a jerk, I'm sure he isn't in real life though. He seems like a big sweetheart, very shy and nervous, but is getting better with talking to people, as seen in the interview clip.

27 mooks and midriffs

People wear or do things to stand out and "be cool". If something will get you noticed by someone then people will do anything. Girls get noticed by wearing cool clothes or clothes that are in, boys get noticed by being class clowns.

#26 Coltan in Cellphones

In reality, we should care; but that won't keep us from owning cell phones. We should make cell phones without coltan or stop buying them so that cell phones companies will suffer and come up with new ideas without the usage of coltan.

#25 Teenage Paparazzo

I understand that celebrities live to be famous and "in the news", that's how they make their money. However, I don't think that they need to be photographed 24/7. They have families; children, boyfriends/girlfriends, husbands and wives so I think they should be able to have some quality time with them without constantly being in the media.
