#4 "Seahaven is the way the world is supposed to be"

I don't think it's right to control someone to see how they turn out. Life shouldn't be "perfect". Life is supposed to come with obstacles and challenges to shape you to be the person you are today. They make you able to deal with things better, control your emotions, etc. If Truman knew that he was being watched and controlled he wouldn't be the same person and do the things he did.
There were different opinions on The Truman Show in the film. The people who weren't getting paid to act in it watched it but I don't think they necessarily approved of what Christof was doing. They were on Truman's side yet everyone who was in the show had to pretend to be on Truman's side but they were actually all against him. It shows you how easily people can fall into a trap and how addicted people are to the media. People on the outside world watched The Truman Show 24/7 but half of them didn't even like it. They watched it because they had to see what was going to happen next or because their friends and family watched it. The point is don't get too connected to something that's not real.

#3 The media personality I most admire is..

I really admire Sandra Bullock. She's famous but seems to not get caught up in all the media drama. She seems genuine and able to "go with the flow". She's an amazing actress but isn't cocky about her talent. She also has done quite a bit for the community. She's donated $1 million dollars to Red Cross after 9/11, and did the same after the tsunami is Asia and donated another million after the Haiti earthquake. She's kind, talented and able to get along with anyone!

#3 Our constructed world

1. I eat fast food 3 times a month.
2. Go shopping to a mall about twice a month.
3. I watch tv around 10 hours per week.
4. I don't play video games.
5. I surf online 3 hours a week.
6. It depends on the day but I usually send around 20 to 30 texts per day.
7. I think global warming is important. I want to travel the world as I get older so it's disappointing to find out that certain parts may not be there anymore due to global warming. Rain forests are being destroyed, land is being destroyed by earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods all because of global warming. The temperature is increasing, raising water levels, therefore putting parts of land under water and killing off species that need cooler climates. Animals shouldn't have to suffer because of people's poor environmental choices.
8. I can't say I pay much attention to what I buy. If there is an eco friendly product then I will choose that over the other one. I work at a market so I buy fresh - local produce rather than imported produce. My mom and I also use the material bags when we grocery shop instead of using plastic bags.
9. My life is somewhat constructed by the media. I'm not on my phone or computer a lot but I do allow certain things in the media to bug me. Facebook can be very excluding and disappointing which is why I don't go on it as much. People in the media can be misleading, sometimes I can be reading a magazine and the person and their life seem so perfect when in reality it's not. The media creates an appearance of everyone being perfect and the best role models so everyone should be just like them. People need to stop caring so much about the media and realize that they have what they have and they're the only ones that can change their own life.

#1 Media is generally a good thing because...

I'd say media is generally a good thing. It allows us to connect faster to people all over the world whether it be through the internet, e-mail, texting, or calling. It takes so little time to send a text or email or call someone rather than going over to their house which is what we would have to do if we didn't have the media and technology we do today. We underestimate how much we find out through media but most of the news we hear is through tv, internet, etc. If we didn't have media who knows how long it would take us to find out important information.
